Meet Mark Brown

Mark Brown served 28 years in the United States Army, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4). Throughout his career, he developed a deep understanding of the financial challenges facing service members — from navigating the Thrift Savings Plan to planning survivor benefit elections, TRICARE coordination, and the transition to civilian life.

After retiring from active duty, Mark pursued his MBA and earned his Series 65 license, channeling his dedication to service into a new mission: providing fee-only, fiduciary financial guidance to the men and women who have given so much to our country.

Based in Winchester, Kentucky, he founded Bluegrass Sentinel Wealth with a simple promise — to bring the same integrity, discipline, and mission focus that guided his military career to every client relationship.

Our Clients

We Serve Those Who Have Served

Our practice is built around the specific needs of the military and federal community.

Military Retirees

You earned your retirement. Let's make the most of it.

Who: Retired E-7 through CW5 or O-4 through O-6; age 45–65

Challenges: TSP distribution decisions, SBP vs. life insurance, TRICARE to Medicare transition, managing retirement pay + investment income

How we help: We specialize in the full military retirement ecosystem — from optimizing your TSP rollover to coordinating your pension with Social Security and VA benefits.

FERS & CSRS Federal Employees

Your federal career built a powerful foundation — let's build on it.

Who: GS-9 through SES; within 5–15 years of retirement

Challenges: FERS annuity calculation, FEHB in retirement, TSP contribution strategy, bridging income before Social Security

How we help: We model your complete federal retirement picture — pension, TSP, Social Security, FEHB — so you retire on your terms, not HR's estimate.

Active Duty & Military Families

Planning for a mobile life with a long-term mission.

Who: Active duty O-3 through O-6/CW3–CW5; military spouses managing household finances

Challenges: PCS moves, SCRA benefits, TSP early investing, VA home loan strategy, GI Bill planning for children

How we help: We meet military families where they are — whether that's building an emergency fund during deployment or planning a VA home loan purchase in Kentucky.

Transitioning Veterans

Your service was the mission. Now let's fund the next chapter.

Who: Recently separated or within 2 years of separation; age 25–45

Challenges: TSP rollover decision, first civilian paycheck budgeting, VA disability and wealth building, life insurance transition off SGLI

How we help: We guide veterans from Day 1 of civilian life — building a financial foundation that honors your service and powers your future.
